The current stack of hardware and software tools that I regularly use. I like experimenting with new tools so things change fairly often.

Hardware

  • Primary Laptop: MacBook Pro 14” (M1 Pro, 2021)
  • Secondary Laptop: MacBook Pro 13” (M1, 2020)
  • Display: LG 27UP83AK-W 27” HDR 4K
  • Phone: iPhone 12 Pro Max
  • Tablets and reading: iPad (7th Gen 2020) + Apple Pencil, Kindle Paperwhite.
  • Headphones: Sony WH-1000XM5
  • Earbuds: AirPods Pro 2
  • Keyboard + Mouse: Logitech MK220

Software

  • Browsers: Firefox, Zen, Helium. Love firefox based systems, but need Chromium at times.
  • Notes: Antinote for quick notes. Obsidian for more persistent notes.
  • Bookmarking and read-later: Folio. Made it for myself to force me to read.
  • Terminal emulator: Ghostty.
  • Shell setup: zsh for shell. Custom prompt setup using p10k (with jj specific info added).
  • Editors/IDEs: Zed.
  • Conding Agents: AmpCode with Opus 4.6 for regular use. OpenCode with GLM4.7 for quick throwaway work, and token hungry agent runs. ClaudeCode at times. Codex with Codex 5.3 at some other times. Pi for creating custom agents for my usecases.

Development Stack

  • Package and environment tools: uv, npm/pnpm.
  • Version Control System: jujutsu with git as the storage backend.
  • Backend/platform tools: Supabase, Firebase, Netlify.
  • Storage and sync: iCloud and Google Drive. I for some reason, pay for both. NAS coming soon.
  • Security and auth: Bitwarden. It just works. And is OpenSource <3
  • ML Experiment Tracking: WandB at work. Both WandB and MLFlow for personal use.
  • Papers and references: Zotero with ZotMoov to move items back and forth from iPad.
  • Whiteboarding and diagrams: Excalidraw, tldraw.
  • Writing and publishing: Markdown + Jekyll to build the static site.

Self-Hosting and Infra

  • Domains: Porkbun. Is simple and it works.
  • DNS: Cloudflare. Has generous free tier.
  • Hosting and deployment: Self host on VPS via Hetzner and Coolify for deployment. Cloudflare Pages for this site.
  • Analytics and monitoring: Rybbit self hosted on my VPS.

Homelab and Tinkering

  • SBC: Raspberry Pi 5 (16 GB). Pretty solid. Often times more than what I need. Full with active cooling, case, and its own peripherals.
  • Smart Lamps: TRÅDFRI and KAJPLATS from Ikea.
  • Smart Hub: Sonoff Zigbee Dongle to control my Zigbee controlled lamps and other devices.
  • Smart Plug: SONOFF S60ZBTPF Zigbee Smart Plug for remotely controlling non-smart plugs.
  • Home Automation Platform: Custom defined orchstration. Likely to move to Home Assistant.

Misc

  • Health Tracking: Colmi Smart Ring as hardware with a custom service running on my RPi5 for communicating over BLE with the ring and compiling data.
  • Desk: RODULF from Ikea. Is electronically height adjustable and is strong and sturdy.
  • Chair: MARKUS from Ikea.
  • Core Browser Extensions: uBlock Origin, Vimium, and Firefox Multi-Account Container among others.
